As soon as I purchased my MacBook I got a hold of the Logitech V470 since, I heard that the apple mouse was not so reliable and has issues with the scrolling ball on top. But this mouse is totally opposite it has been very reliable for the past 12 months and still going. Only downfall is that you do have to change the batteries on it more often than I would of thought. I say batteries last around 3 to 4 Months. But other than that the mouse has been great. The mouse is great WHEN it stays connected. It sometimes loses connection when the laptop goes to sleep or I turn it off (which is every day.) It is not always easy to reconnect like it should be. Sometimes I have to delete the driver and restart the computer a couple times for it to pick up the mouse. Then when that happens, the configuration I setup is gone.

Some users have a problem with the lack of the foward and backward button on the side. You can setup the middle button for that, which I like much better, but when the mouse loses connection, you lose the configuration setup of the back/foward.

I love this mouse. It works great, connects easily. For it to have 5 stars, it needs a side back button. I may program the center wheel button to be a back button. I bought this for use with an Asus 1000HE netbook. I chose it over the comparable Microsoft bluetooth model purely because of the color. It's a near match for the blue 1000HE -- the mouse is slightly too green (or the Asus is slightly too purple) to be an exact match but it's pretty close.

I tried using a bluetooth mouse with an HP laptop a couple of years ago but gave up as the connection would frequently drop, requiring manual repairing. The V470 works as seamlessly as an IR wireless mouse. No disconnects during use, no manual intervention required after the initial setup.

The logitech software does seem a bit light on features. A few more options for button reassignments/combinations would be nice.

It works well on a variety of surfaces. No problem using it on couch cushions, a magazine or the side of a briefcase. The mouse is very nice looking and small. Everything I needed.
Unfortunately it has two problems that makes it unusable (at least for me):
1. After you don't move it for 1-2 seconds (yes, only 1-2 seconds), I believe the mouse goes in power sleep mode. When you move it back, it takes from 1/2 second to 1 whole second for the pointer to respond. This create frustration when you use it...

2. The mouse pointer movements are not smooth. I believe it's a problem with interference with other radio sources of the computer. I'm using a Macbook (aluminum unibody), with an Apple bluetooth keyboard, and using 802.11. Under this configuration the mouse pointer jumps a lot. No smooth movements. I remember I have used it with the wireless turned off, and I have the feeling it's a little better, but not perfect.

If you are looking for this mouse as an alternative to the Apple wireless mouse, don't fall from it. Steer clear from it.
