For starters, I hate mice. I have Logitech Trackballs for all my desktop (3) and Laptop (4) computers. And I hate trackpads even more than I hate mice. I have 2 Gateways, a Lenovo, an Asus Netbook and have used my kid's Dell. I have used mini-mice for the laptops and all of the trackpads. They all stink on ice. If you like mice or trackpads, this review is not for you.
I originally bought the finger mouse for my laptop (Gateway 15.1 inch) because it was small and light but I eventually just used the Logitech Trackman because there was plenty of room in the bag.
Where this product shines is with the Asus EeePC Netbook. I use the Logitech Trackman when I'm at the desk but, on the road, it's too big and clunky to carry with a little netbook. The finger mouse fits in the little bag (next to the power adapter so it takes up very little room) and it weighs virtually nothing. I use two bags (a teeny one for just the netbook and a bigger one that holds the external drive, cooling pad, power adapter, manual, earphones, etc.) The finger mouse fits in both with no problem and it weighs virtually nothing.
As with any trackball, if you aren't used to them, you have to retrain your fingers to operate it efficiently but that doesn't take much effort. It's vastly more accurate and easy to use than the crummy Asus trackpad and you don't need the extra flat space you would with a mouse so it's great for those teeny airline tray tables (until your wife swipes your earphones so she can watch movies on the netbook).
My wife took the netbook when we went to Key West in October. She disappeared one afternoon and I found her down at the hotel pool bar with the netbook, sucking down Pina Coladas and chatting on AIM (gotta love those 10 hour batteries). She said three people came up and asked her where they could get a little trackball like hers.
