I got this for my laptop running Vista (I hate using the touch pad - too cumbersome and inefficient). It was immediately recognized and functional on plug-in, and continues to be so every time I reconnect it. The wireless has been flawless from as far as 3 feet away - no lag or stuttering. I have plus sized hands, but I have no problems working it . And, I've been using it for 2 months and haven't had to change the batteries yet (using rechargeable).
