The mouse is great and works exactly as it's advertised. I'm a big fan of logitech so I was excited when I found this little guy for $10 at Target--except for the fact that the only color they had left was pink. The only thing that confused me about the unit was that every time I put the USB stick in the dock and then pulled it out to use it later, the power switch was turned to "on". Turns out that the USB stick locks in to the mouse with two grooves on both sides and another towards the bottom tip, which grabs the power switch as it locks in. That groove slides the power switch up and to the right turning the mouse to the "on" position. Thought that was an interesting find. They may want to consider switching the position of the bottom groove so the battery doesn't get drained while the mouse is not in use. Again, awesome product but somewhat annoyed that I can't use the USB storage on the mouse without draining the battery. Great mouse, the ergonomic shape is perfect. The placement of the programmable side buttons is ideal. I found that the wireless mouse was constantly burning through batteries, and wanted to get back to a corded mouse. The connectivity is a just a bit faster.

The software for programming the buttons was not recognized by Windows 7. But the primary buttons work fine. I expect it's a driver issue and will check that out.

I originally bought this mouse to replace my 3 year-old IntelliMouse Explorer. I owned the Microsoft Explorer Mouse for a week before I replaced it with my old IntelliMouse.

Tracking with the Microsoft Explorer Mouse is very precise, but seems to be a bit fast, even when you adjust the settings in the Control Panel. The "Blue" glow when it resumes from standby, (usually after you take it off the charging station) is very nice and bright. The laser is blue as well, and performes on most surfaces including a short pile carpet. Highly reflective surfaces like glass or black onyx it will have a very hard time tracking.

As for the shape, very cumbersome to use. The left side of the mouse is normal like most of us are used to, the the right side is very hard to get used to. My pinky finger kept feeling like it was going to slip off/down and had a hard time gripping it. the mouse is designed to be used without a mousepad with a built-in wrist rest.

Battery life will last about a week or so, depending on how much you use it. if you are a haevy user, (5-9 hours a day) you will have to charge the battery about every 4 days. The mouse requires 1 battery which comes with it.

The scroll wheel has kind of a metalic feel to it, and it is very smooth. Most of the newer mice have a smooth scrooling feature. I did like it though and hope to see if more in newer products.

My computer desk is unique since whichever mouse I have used (1 Logitech MX Revolution, 2 VX revolutions, 2 other cordless mice from logitech...all of these work just fine on other surfaces) on it gave me the odd stutter every now and then so I read up on this mouse and how it works on more surfaces than laser mice too, so I bought it. While the stuttering problem has gone away, I have recently started noticing that it just stops responding. I can't even press it's on-off switch to get it switch off and on because it just stays on. I have to remove the battery and reinsert it to get it to work. I guess I've got a faulty piece...hopefully it will last me at least a year (replacement will be a pain since I'm not in USA just now and I got it from b*u*y dot com).

Also, a couple more things to note about this mouse:
1) It's a silent mouse - no clicking sounds or scroll wheel sounds...took me a few days to get used to it but now it feels fine.

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Presenter Mouse 8000 Right now

This is the best bluetooth mouse that I have owned. It is great not having to put in a dongle. I have to note that I had to get 2 of them. On the first one that I got the left mouse button was really hard to press, but I had that one replaced and the second one didn't have that problem. Not sure if this is a built quality issue or just a consistency issue.

One change I would like is to move both of the side buttons to the left. They are hard to press because they are located a little too high on the mouse. The smooth scrolling mouse wheel is nice as well its nice and quiet and I haven't had any problems using it.

Now for the one MAJOR FLAW of this mouse is the Intellipoint software. It is extremely inflexible when compared to Logitech's Setpoint software. You can only set the mouse buttons to certain keys, for instance if you want to set one of the side buttons to shift+delete its impossible. The software won't let you do it. Also to set a mouse button as a single key you have to use the macro feature which is pointless.

If they would allow more flexible customization with the mouse buttons then this would be a 5 star mouse.

I didn't really use the presentation modes of this mouse so I can't comment on that. Basically you press the button under the mouse wheel to enter presentation mode this disables the front buttons so that you don't accidentally press them while presenting. The laser pointer is useful to keep people and animals busy around you when you are on the computer. It feels good to hold in the hand and I imagine that controlling powerpoint with it would work as expected.
