I bought this mouse for the color, which is very vibrant and looks great on my desk. However, I am very disappointed with the quality of the mouse. After using it for about 8 months, the shiny, clear finish is rubbing/scratching off with no real cause. Since its appearance is the big draw of this mouse, it's unfortunate that it's degrading so quickly.

Also, I was not expecting the mouse to glow, and periodically flash, so brightly, even when not in use. I am posting a picture of the mouse in the dark so that you can see how bright it is before you buy it. I found the bright light annoying at night.

Overall, I also wouldn't recommend this mouse for daily use the way I have been using it. It only has the two buttons and a scroll wheel, which is pretty stiff, so it doesn't have a lot of features or comfort to offer. Microsoft Mobile mouse 4000 is best wireless mouse I have ever used. I purchased mine from an OfficeMax store in Brooklyn but today it stopped working. When I went to investigate why the mouse wasn't working I discovered that the wireless receiver (the part you plug-in to your pc) was extremely hot to the touch, at least 120°F. Removing it and placing it in a different usb port caused it to heat up again. So now I am stuck with an otherwise wonderful (wonderful because it makes less noise while scrolling and clicking than the Logitech V450 mouse) that I can't use.

Buy Gyration GYM2100NA Air Mouse

Basically it is a good mouse for notebook computer and travelling, but not as good as I have expected.

I am a technical training instructor and I do a lot of presentations using PowerPoint. I purchased my first Gyration mouse called GyroMouse Presenter in 2004. I have used it for work on daily basis, on both desktop as well as in-the-air and it is still in perfect working condition today.

The Presenter mouse had a unique egg-shape design, it feels very comfortable holding in my hand when using it for my presentation. The only thing is it is a product with older technologies, it's a mechanical mouse with a roller-ball, there is no scroll wheel, and with low frequency radio signal that is prone to get interfered. Because it's a full size mouse, its weight and a fairly large charging base and AC power adapter made it cumbersome to travel with.

So recently I decided to get a new air mouse. I bought this Gyration Air Mouse GYM2100NA from Amazon. The first impression was good but then quickly I found a problem. It's almost impossible to open the battery compartment without damaging it. It took me more than 20 minutes, with a mini screw driver to prey open the battery compartment.

After almost a moth using this new Air Mouse, here are my thoughts.
Pros:
1) Small and compact, light-weighted travel mouse for notebook computers.
2) It's an optical mouse so no more cleaning the roller ball.
3) Plug-n-play no need for special driver, recognized by Windows as USB mouse.
4) 2.4 GHz radio signal so less prone to interferences.
5) Using two AAA batteries so no need to carry the charging base and AC power adapter.
6) The USB receiver is stored inside the mouse when not used.
7) There is an on/off switch to extend battery life.
8) Oh, and the zippered carrying pouch.

Cons:
1) It's not exactly the best ergonomically designed air mouse. As a guy I have relatively small hands. But even I feel it's awkward to hold the mouse in midair and simultaneously trying to pull the trigger button on the bottom of the mouse. (I miss the egg-shaped Presenter.)
2) The battery compartment is a bad design.
3) Poor documentation for the included GyroTool software. I still have not been able to successfully utilize the 3 assignable buttons.
4) I wish there is a built-in laser pointer. (In this case Microsoft Presenter 8000 seems to have an edge.)

Summary:
Would I recommend this mouse, yes. But I wish Gyration would have continued the original Presenter mouse. Improve it by making it an optical mouse with lighter weight, getting rid of the charging base by using the USB receiver and AAA batteries, and have a built-in laser pointer. Again, I miss that egg-shaped design.
