After using this mouse for 3-4 hours per day for about 6 weeks, the silicon material around the mouse started falling off in little chunks. After another two weeks of having to clean up after every use, I scraped the rest of the silicon material off and have been using it with the hard plastic casing, which actually isn't that bad.
